Adorable Toddler Shared Bedroom Redo and Organization
I have two toddlers, a boy and a girl, who are 20 months apart. We are short a bedroom in our house, and although we had plans to purchase a bigger home, right now that just isn’t financially feasible with the prices of houses and the high interest rates. So, we decided for now, we will keep our amazing interest rate and make do. One of the challenges we had were having our toddlers share a bedroom and still make it possible to have a place to store toys and for them to play.
So I partnered with Meat and Potatoes Organizing (they service the Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester and Surrounding Areas) to come and help me figure out the best way to organize. Between our living room and their bedroom, I needed help to control the toy chaos. Sometimes it just helps to have someone come in with a fresh pair of eyes and a different perspective to help you figure out what to do with a difficult space. And, I will be honest, I’m an ADHD mom who gets overwhelmed really easily and tends to shut down if things feel too overwhelming, so having a professional organizer can really help!!!
I try to make sure to have our home organized as best as I can, since I find clutter makes me very overwhelmed, but to be honest, having Emily from Meat and Potatoes Organizing come in and help, it was really was eye opening on the way she did things and how I can start to implement what she showed me in our home.
All of the items here I purchased on my own and they are linked here! However, I chatted with Emily and she said that she that does often go out and purchase organizing items for clients, if the clients request that. She also did take all of the items I chose to get rid of and said she would donate them for me. That makes it easier for the clients, and also makes sure that you don’t leave the donation piles in your garage, or worse yet, go and take stuff back out of the donation piles (especially important if you have kiddos that don’t like to get rid of stuff!)!!!
My toddlers are obsessed with their dinosaur themed room, and even though I still need to update the pink curtains, I absolutely adore how the whole thing turned out!!!!! I did this all on a pretty strict budget, and the bed was our biggest splurge!!
It took only a few hours to redo this room after I had put it off for way too long, and I absolutely love how it turned out!! Don’t procrastinate your organization project any longer, contact Meat and Potatoes Organizing ASAP!!!!! Tell them Tara sent you!!!!

Emily was not pushy at all about me getting rid of stuff. Even though I am not a “keeper”, I also don’t like to be pushed into getting rid of stuff, and like to make my own decisions on what is important to our family. I truly appreciated that about her. She just simply put everything in one big pile, then she sorted each bin we had, and then sorted the rest into piles of big toys, books, and miscellaneous items. From there I got to choose what to keep, what to donate, and what was to be thrown out. It was so simple and matter of fact, there was nothing to be overwhelmed about, which helped me clear my mind and focus on what toys were best to keep and which ones I should give away.
If you struggle with any areas of your home, big or small, hiring a professional organizer is truly they way to go. It’s so worth your money and once it’s organized well, it’s so easy it organized!!
